Hallo allemaal! Op donderdag 20 februari ben ik naar de tentoonstelling van Marimekko in de kunsthal R'dam geweest. Ik kwam daar eigenlijk voor een andere tentoonstelling, maar toen ik eenmaal in het museum was, ben ik toch maar doorgelopen naar de zaal over dit kledingmerk. Ik had nog nooit van Marimekko gehoord maar ik keek mijn ogen uit bij alle kleurrijke printjes en mooie kledingstukken op de tentoonstelling. Toen ik thuiskwam had ik weer super veel inspiratie voor een nieuw artikel. Daarom besloot ik 3 nail arts te maken die geïnspireerd zijn op de kleding van dit merk. Hello everyone! On Thursday 20 Februari, I've visited the exhibition of the fashion brand Marimekko in the Kunsthal in Rotterdam. At first I came there for another exhibition, but once I was in the museum, I walked right away to the Marimekko corner ;) I had never heard off this brand but once I saw their colourful patterns and beautiful clothes, I fell in love immediatelly! When I came home, I had a lot of inspiration for a new article. So I decided to create three nail arts, which are inspirated on the clothes that I saw in the museum! Marimekko is opgericht in 1949 en behalve kleding ontwerpt dit merk ook stoffen voor tassen en interieur decoraties. Ook schoenen mogen in hun collecties natuurlijk niet ontbreken. Het bedrijf komt oorspronkelijk uit Finland maar is inmiddels overal ter wereld gevestigd. Vanwege de felle prints en kleurrijke motieven was dit merk erg vernieuwend in de tijd na de oorlog. Op de tentoonstelling waren veel van de kledingstukken en motieven van Marimekko terug te vinden en daardoor kon ik echt kennismaken met het merk. Ik vond zowel de opzet als de uitwerking van de tentoonstelling erg geslaagd.
Marimekko was founded in 1949 and except fashion, they also make a lot of fabrics for bags and interior decorations. The company is originally based in Finland, but it has been spread all over the world. Because of thebright prints and colourful patterns, this brand was very innovative after the second world war. The exhibition showed a lot of different fabrics and patterns to the visitor, so I could really meet up with this for me unknown brand. I really liked their exhibition, and I got a lot of inspiration for some new manicures that I’m going to show you now!
De eerste nail art die ik gemaakt heb is geïnspireerd op bovenstaande zwart-witte jurk van Marimekko. Toen ik deze op de tentoonstelling zag wist ik gelijk dat ik hier een nail art bij wilde maken. Hoewel ik in eerste instantie dacht aan een Water Marble, is het toch een Freehand manicure geworden. Door verschillende lagen zwart en witte nagellak te combineren kon ik een mooi effect op de nagel creëren.
The first manicure that I’d love to show you guys is inspired on the black and white dress from Marimekko that you can see in the picture above. When I saw this dress at the exhibition, I knew that I wanted to make a nail art with it right away. Although I first thought of a Water Marble, I ended up making a freehand manicure. I painted several layers of black and white polish to create a lovely effect on the nail.
Ook bovenstaande jurken heb ik op de tentoonstelling gefotografeerd. Hoewel ik deze zelf niet aan zou trekken, kreeg ik veel inspiratie voor een nail art. Eerst heb ik een witte nagellak gebruikt voor de achtergrond van deze manicure. Vervolgens heb ik daar verticale groene lijnen op aangebracht met een striper. Ook heb ik met allerlei andere felle kleurtjes de details op de nagel toegevoegd.
On the exhibition, I’ve also photographed the colourful dress that you can see in the picture above. Although I wouldn’t wear this dress myself, I got a lot of inspiration for a new manicure. First I painted the background of this nail art with a basic white polish. Then I applied some green vertical lines with my striper. I’ve also added all sorts of bright colours, to create the details on the nail.
Als laatste zag ik deze blousjes met felle strepen. Ook hier wilde ik een bijpassende nail art bij creëren maar dit bleek een uitdaging te zijn. Nadat ik de achtergrond had gelakt met een zwarte nagellak, heb ik de paarse details toegevoegd. Ook heb ik de knoopjes van de blouse wat uitvergroot zodat er een schattig effect op de nagel ontstaat. Hoewel dit een moeilijke nail art was, vind ik het resultaat toch wel geslaagd. Het kledingstuk duidelijk herkenbaar.
Finally I saw these blouses with all kinds of bright stripes. Again J I wanted to create a matching nail art, but this ended up becoming a big challenge. After I painted my nails with a black nail polish, I added the purple details to create a special effect. I also created the buttons that make this manicure look really cute! Although this nail art was difficult to create, I ended up loving the result of this dark manicure.
