2. I only watch films with Johnny Depp in it. I think he's just one of the best actors of this generation, and jeah that's also because of the way he looks!

4. I've managed to get tickets for a concert of lady gaga this summer in the Netherlands and this whole month I've just been soooooo exited!

1. What A Jolie Fishtail! + tutorial
Polishpals shared a lovely Fishtail nail art, including a tutorial with us this month. She used some beautiful pastel colors to create this manicure and I can really recommend her blog as well!

2. Nail lacquer Uk
One of my favorite nail bloggers joined the life lacquers nail art challenge this month and she created a beautiful and very creative manicure for the first theme called food. Those doughnuts look just so delicious!

3. Piggieluv
This lady has definitely become one of my favorite nail artists this month! I discovered her blog and saw a lot of mintblowing designs such as these zoo nails which consits of five different manis! You definitely have to take a look at her blog!


4. The nail snail
The nail snail created her own version of the nautical nails and I'm totatally in love with them! I like how she combinated a dark using shade and her gold stripers to create this manicure. I think the quality of her pictures looks really great as well!

 
5. Lovely Lonnie
This month I joined a competition with some other nail art freaks including Lovely Lonnie. The first theme that we'd to make a manicure for was a summer/beach manicure. Lovely Lonnie came up with tis wonderful palm tree design and I absolutely love this nail art!

Geometric Hearts Manicure + Tutorial



Hallo lieve volgers, vandaag wil ik een geheel nieuwe manicure met jullie delen. Wanneer deze post online verschijnt ben ik net terug van vakantie. De afgelopen weken heb ik vooruitgewerkt zodat ik in de zomer een kleine nail art break in kon lasten. Aangezien tweetalige artikelen meer moeite kosten en ik alleen met het maken van een nail art al een uur bezig ben. Om een lang verhaal kort te maken vandaag wil ik jullie weer een mooie nieuwe nagel creatie laten zien. Deze nail art is geinspireerd op de klassieke French manicure en ik heb hem gecombineerd met geometrische lijnen die samen schattige hartjes op mijn nagels vormen. In dit artikel wil ik jullie meer over deze manicure vertellen en ik wil jullie ook door middel van een tutorial laten zien hoe je deze creatie zelf thuis kan maken. Hello my dear polish friends, today I've got a brand new manicure to share with you. By the time this post appears online I'll be back from my vacation but the past weeks I've been planning to make more articles, so that I could take a little break during this summer. So yeah, today I want to share a lovely new manicure with you which is really inspired on a classic French manicure and geometric lines that form together some cute little hearts on your nails. In this article I'd like to tell you more about this manicure, and I'll also share a small tutorial with you, so that you know how you can create this manicure yourself at home. But how have I created this manicure? In the pictures above you can see that I managed to make this nail art by following 3 easy steps:

1. Paint your nails with a dark green polish. After your nails have dried completly use a white striper to create the outlining of the geometric hearts. Begin by creating a classic French manicure and continue adding lines to create the outlining that you can see in the first picture above.

2. Continue filling in the outlining with a bright pink polish and your striper to create the feel of hearts on your nails. I used both curved and vertical lines to create this manicure.

3. Finish this design by using your white striper again. When the white and bright pink lines had dried completly, I decided to use my white stripers to create two more vertical lines on my nails. You can finish this manicure by using your favorite topcoat!




Maar welke lakjes heb ik gebruikt om deze nail art te maken? Voor de donkergroene achtergrond heb ik een lakje van Dagenaamd Nr. 005 Moss gebruikt. Van deze nagellak konden jullie een paar weken geleden al een review op mijn blog lezen. Deze lak bedekt mijn nagels met twee lagen van de lak. Maar eenmaal opgedroogd ziet dit lakje er wel wat streperig uit. Ik vind de kleur en de glans van deze nagellak wel erg bijzonder. Toen mijn nagels gedroogd waren gebruikte ik een basic witte nagellak van Sinful Colors genaamd Snow me white om de details aan mijn nagels toe te voegen. Ik eindigde deze manicure met een felle roze nagellak van Herome genaamd Las vegas. Ik ben heel erg onder de indruk van de dekking van deze nagellak. Je hebt namelijk maar een laag nodig om al je nagels te bedekken! Zoals je mischien al doorhad zijn van alle lakken die ik in dit artikel genoemd heb inmiddels al een uitgebreide review op mijn blog verschenen. Ik zal de links van deze artikelen in de comments plaatsen maar je kunt ook op de namen van de lakjes klikken om direct naar de swatches te gaan.


But which polishes have I used to create this design? For the dark green background that I used for this manicure, I used a polish from Da called No. 005 Moss. I've posted a review of this polish some weeks ago. This nail polish covers your nails with two layers of polish. But after my nails had dryed the nail polish looks a bit streaky on my nails. I do think the colour and the shine of this polish look both wonderful! After my nails had dried I used a basic white nail polish from Sinful colors called Snow me white to add the details. I finished this manicure using a bright pink polish from Herome called Las Vegas. I am very pleased with the coverage of this polish. One layer of polish is enough to  cover all your nails! As you could have noticed I have already posted reviews of all these polishes on my blog. ~Review~ Essence Wave Goddess! #2

Daarin testte ik twee lakjes uit de Wave Godess collectie van Essence voor jullie uit. Deze Limited Edition collectie heeft als thema zon, zee & strand. Behalve oog en lipproducten bestaat deze lijn ook uit vier nagellakken. Vorige week heb ik al een review geschreven over de twee blauwe tinten uit deze collectie. Hoewel de kwaliteit van de lakjes me tegenviel, ik vond de formule te dik, bevielen de kleuren me erg goed. Maar gaan de volgende twee lakken mijn verwachtingen ook waarmaken? In that article I swatched the two blue polishes of the Wave Godess collection from Essence for you guys. This Limited Edition collection is all about the sun, sea & of course the beach. Except for eye and lip products, Essence has also lauched four new summer polishes. De Wave godess collectie bestaat dus uit vier kleuren waarvan deze fel roze kleur genaamd Nr. 01 Loose your heart on the board toch wel de grootste eye-catcher is. Deze zomerse roze kleur bedekt mijn nagels met een dikke laag en droogt bovendien snel op. De formule van deze lak is net als de andere lakken wat dikker maar eenmaal opgedroogd ziet deze kleur er toch mooi egaal uit. Hij vormt dus de perfecte basis voor nail arts en stelt in zijn kwaliteit zeker niet teleur. Maar was ik over de groene kleur ook te spreken?


The Wave Godess collection from Essence consists of four colors and I think this pink shade called No. 01 Loose your heart on the board is the bridest eye-catcher of them all. This pink polish is perfect for the summer and covers your nails with only one coat. I do think that the formula of this polish is very thick which doesn't make it easy to apply the color nice and equally. But when my nails had dried completly I ended up loving the result of this manicure. But did I like the light green shade as well?
 


Nr. 02 Wave down the lime is zoals de naam van het lakje al verraad een limoen groene nagellak. Ook deze kleur is niet helemaal matte maar bevat een subtiele shimmer. De lak bedekt mijn nagels met twee dikke lagen van de lak. Opgedroogd ziet de formule er wat streperig uit maar al met al vind ik het een mooie kleur. Wel viel de kwaliteit van deze kleur me op lange termein tegen. Toen ik de lak een paar dagen uitgetest had en hem weer van mijn nagels afhaalde zag ik dat de limoenkleur in mijn nagels getrokken was. Erg lelijk want nu ziet de natuurlijke kleur van mijn nagels er geel uit. Dat viel dus tegen!

No. 02 Wave down the lime is as the name already reveals a lime green polish. This color isn't matte all over, but contains a subtl shimmer which makes the polish stand out even more. This shade covers my nails with two layers of the polish. When my nails had dried completly the polish did not look equal divided at all but I do love the color of this shade. But honesly, the quality of this polish on the long term isn't what I expected it to be. I tested this polish for a couple of days and the color from the lime shade took over all my nails. So now my fingertips look yellow instead of a light pink. :(
 


Maar al met al, wat is mijn uiteindelijke mening over deze collectie? Al deze lakjes bedekken je nagels gemiddeld met twee lagen. Doordat de formule van de nagellak zo dik is droogt de kleur snel op en met name bij de lichte kleuren zien je nagels er eenmaal opgedroogd niet mooi egaal uit. Dit viel mij erg tegen. Ook vind ik het jammer dat de groene lak in je nagels trekt. Maar de kleuren van deze lakjes zijn wel super geschikt voor de zomer! Essence heeft heel goed ingespeeld op de trends van dit seizoen en ik vind dat de kleuren van de lakjes ook goed bij het thema zon, zee & strand passen. Ik ben erg benieuwd wat jullie van deze zomerse kleuren vinden.

But what is my overal opinion on these polishes? All these shades covered my nails with about two layers of the polish. Because of the thickness of the formula, my nails dried very quicly but once they were dried some of the lighter shades looked like a total mess on my nails. The polish wasn't equal divided at all. So some of the lighter shades didn't managed to meet my expectations. But I do like the colors of these shades. Essence played along with the trends of this season very well. I like the colors that they came up with and I do think these shades match the beach theme really well. I'm so curious what you guys think of these polishes.

Ballet inspired manicure!


Hallo lieve lezers, vandaag wil ik weer een nieuwe nail art met jullie delen. Deze witte nagelcreatie is geïnspireerd op ballet schoenen, in Nederland ook wel spitzen genoemd. Ballerina’s zijn met deze schoenen in staat om de meest elegante bewegingen en pirouettes te maken. Ik heb dan ook geprobeerd om in deze creatie iets van die elegantie over te brengen. Zoals jullie kunnen zien heb ik voor deze nail art alleen maar witte lak gebruikt. Maar wat zijn nu precies mijn favorieten wat betreft witte nagellak? Voor deze manicure liet ik me inspireren door de balletschoenen waarbij ballerina’s de meest elegante bewegingen maken. Zoals jullie kunnen zien heb ik de schoen niet letterlijk op mijn nagels nagemaakt, maar ik heb wel elementen overgenomen die deze nail art herkenbaar maken. Voor deze nagel creatie heb ik enkel witte nagellak gebruikt. Ik heb mijn nagels wit gelakt maar daarbij heb ik wel een aantal vlakken overgeslagen. Die heb ik later ingevuld met een aantal dunnere witte lijnen. Zoals jullie kunnen zien heb ik van mijn natuurlijke nagelkleur gebruikgemaakt om een mooi doorschijnend effect te creëren. Eerst heb ik op al mijn nagels een verzorgende lak en een nail whitener aangebracht zodat mijn nagels minder geel lijken. De studio nails Pro white lak van Essence is op dit moment mijn favoriet. Deze lak laat de natuurlijke kleur van je nagels meer opvallen zonder je nagels aan te tasten. Maar welke witte lakjes heb ik precies gebruikt?

For this manicure I got my inspiration from the ballet shoes which ballerina’s use to be able to make the most elegant movements. As you can see I’ve not created the most recognizable shoes on my nails, but I used some elements of the ballet shoes to create the perfect white manicure. For this creation I only used white polish. I've painted my nails but while doing that I made sure that I skipped some parts which I filled in later with some thinner white lines. As you can see I used my natural nail color to give my nails a more transparent look. To create this effect I used a nail whitener to get rid of any irregularities on my nails. The studio Pro white polish from Essence is my current favorite. This polish lets my natural nail color stand out even more without damaging my nails. But which white polishes have I used exactly?  
 
 
Om deze nagelcreatie te maken heb je allereerst een goed dekkende witte nagellak nodig. Veel merken hebben deze zomer witte lakjes op de markt gebracht en wit begint dan ook echt een trend te worden. Trouwens, op het strand laat een witte nagellak je huid nog bruiner lijken! Maar wat zijn nu precies mijn aanraders wat betreft witte nagellak? Een goede witte lak hoeft niet duur te zijn. Essence heeft bijvoorbeeld gedurende het WK in Nederland een budget witte nagellak uitgebracht genaamd: Hattrick! Hoewel ik deze nagellak zelf nooit uitgeprobeerd heb, las ik op andere blogs al veel positieve reviews. Een ander budget merk dat ik kan aanraden is Sinful colors. Zij hebben ook een wit lakje in hun collectie genaamd: Snow me whitewaarmee je hele mooie nagelcreaties kunt maken. En tot slot heeft ook Rimmel London dit jaar een nieuwe witte nagellak uitgebracht. Nr. 703 White hot loveis de perfecte witte lak die je nagels met 2 lagen goed bedekt!


To create this manicure you’ll need the perfect white polish to cover all your nails. There are a lot of brands that have released white polishes this summer and the white shade will be a hugh trend this season. On top of that, on the beach white colors will make your skin look more tanned! But what are my favorite white polishes? During the World cup Essence has released a new white shade called: Hattrick! I’ve never tested this polish myself but I came across a lot of positive reviews online. Another white shade that I’d recommend is Snow me white from Sinful Colors. You can make some beautiful white nail art creations with that nail polish. So, this spring Rimmel London has also released a beautiful white color in it’s Rita Ora collection called No. 703 White hot love. This polish covers all of your nails with just two coats.

~Review~ Essence Wave Godess #1



Hallo iedereen, vandaag wil ik een nieuwe review met jullie delen! Essence komt deze zomer met een nieuwe Limited Edition collectie genaamd Wave Godess. Deze collectie bestaat onder andere uit vier zomerse nagellakken, waarvan ik er vandaag twee voor jullie uit wil testen. De lakjes zijn, zoals de naam al zegt, geïnspireerd op de zee, zomer & natuurlijk het strand. In het algemeen ben ik niet zo’n grote fan van Limited Edition collecties omdat de kwaliteit van de lakjes nog wel eens te wensen overhoudt. Maar toen ik de lakken uit deze collectie in de winkel zag liggen kon ik de verleiding toch niet weerstaan. Maken deze lakjes mijn verwachtingen waar? Hello everyone, today I’d like to share a new review with you guys! Essence has just launched a new Limited Edition collection called Wave Godess. This collection consists of a lot of new products, for example four new nail polishes! Today I’d like to share the two blue shades from this collection with you guys. The polishes are inspired on the beach, summer and of course the sea. In general I’m not a big fan of Limited Edition polishes because the quality of these polishes is often very disappointing. But when I saw these lovely shades in my local drugstore I knew that I had to buy them. Are these polishes going to meet my expectations? You can read the first part of my review in this article.




Het eerste lakje van de Wave Godess collectie dat ik graag met jullie wil delen is deze donkerblauwe kleur genaamd Nr. 04 Crush on blue. Deze nagellak bedekt mijn nagels met twee laagjes en ik moet zeggen dat ook de kleur niet tegenvalt. De nagellak is niet helemaal matte maar bevat een lichte glans waardoor de kleur er net iets specialer uitziet. Wel vind ik de formule van dit lakje aan de dikke kant. Het is dus moeilijk om de nagellak goed aan te brengen omdat hij zo snel opdroogt. Overall, ben ik erg tevreden met de kwaliteit van deze lak!

So, the first nail polish from the Wave Godess collection that I’d love to share with you guys is this dark blue color called No. 04 Crush on blue. This polish covered my nails with two coats, and I have to saw I’m not disappointed with the quality of this nail polish as well. This shade isn’t completely matte but has a light sparkle in it, to make the shade stand out even more! I do think that the formula of this color is a little to thick, therefore the polish dries real quick. But overall, this polish has managed to meet my high expectations!



De tweede kleur die ik voor jullie uit wil testen is wat lichter. Nr. 03 Have a break houdt het midden tussen een licht blauwe en een mint kleur. Op de foto’s lijkt de kleur trouwens nog lichter dan hij in werkelijkheid is. Hoewel ook dit lakje mijn nagels met twee lagen goed bedekt, ben ik weer geen fan van de formule van deze kleur. Doordat de substantie van de lak zo dik is, droogt hij veel te snel op. Hierdoor is het moeilijk om de lak mooi egaal aan te brengen. Daardoor ontstaan er snel strepen en andere oneffenheden op de nagels. De kleur van dit lakje vind ik wel weer erg mooi en deze lak is dan ook perfect om op je nagels te dragen gedurende een zomerse dag op het strand.

The second polish that I’d love to test for you guys is a little bit lighter. No. 03 Have a break is a light blue polish that almost looks like a mint shade on your nails. On the pictures above this shade looks even lighter than it really is. Although this polish covered my nail with two coats as well, I’m nog a big fan of the formula from this polish. The formula is just to thick and the polish dries also real quick. When my nails had dried I saw a lot of irregularities on my fingertips. But I do like the color of this nail polish. I think this shade is perfect to wear on your nails during a hot summer day at the beach!
 


In het kort: de kleuren van deze lakjes vind ik prachtig en deze nagellakken zijn erg geschikt voor de zomer. Ik vind het leuk dat ze ringen hebben toegevoegd aan de dop van het flesje, en dat je die ook echt om je vingers kan dragen. Essence speelt goed in op de trends van het seizoen maar ze moeten toch echt beter naar de formule van hun Limited Edition lakken gaan kijken. Hoewel de lakjes je nagels met twee lagen redelijk bedekken, is de formule van de lakken erg dik en trok de kleur van Nr. 03 have a break in mijn nagels. Ik ben erg benieuwd wat jullie van de eerste twee lakjes uit deze collectie vinden!

So in short: I think the colors of these polishes look beautiful and they are very appropriate to wear on your nails this summer. I love how Essence added some rings to the caps of these polishes which you can wear on your own fingers as well. Essence played along with the trends of this season but they really have to improve the formula of their Limited Edition polishes. Although these two shades covered my nails with two coats, I think the formula of these shades is very thick and I don't like that No. 03 have a break ruined the color of my natural nails as well. I'm very curious what you guys think of these nail polishes!

COTM: Beach/vacation manicure ~Vote for your favorite mani!



Hallo allemaal! Vandaag wil ik een nieuw item op mijn blog introduceren. Een tijdje terug kwam Cindy van Brilliantnails met het idee om een maandelijkse nail art challenge op te zetten met 12 andere bloggers. Iedereen vond dit een heel goed idee en vandaag komt dan eindelijk onze eerste Challenge of the Month (COTM) online. Ons eerste thema was Beach & Vacation en daar heb ook ik een mooie nail art bij gemaakt. In dit artikel wil ik jullie zowel mijn inzending als de andere nail arts laten zien en onder het artikel kunnen jullie stemmen op jullie favoriet. Iedere maand word er dan ook een winnaar gekozen! Some weeks ago one of my lovely nail colleageus called Cindy from Brilliantnails came with the idea to start a montly nail art challenge with 12 other dutch beautybloggers. Everyone thought that this would be a great idea and today it's finally time to introduce to you the first Challenge of the month (COTM). Our first theme is Beach & Vacation and I decided to come up with a lovely summer manicure for this challenge. In this article I'd love to share my version of this team with you and I'd also like to share the nail arts from the other contastants. If you scroll to the end of this article you can easily vote for your favorite manicure! Dan nu de nail art die ik voor deze challenge ontworpen heb! Het thema vacantie schreeuwt natuurlijk strand, en een blauw gradiënt mocht voor deze nail art dan ook niet ontbreken. Door wat witte details aan het blauwe kleurverloop toe te voegen ontstaat de suggestie van zee op mijn nagels. Maar voor mij is de zomervakantie helemaal niet compleet zonder ice-tea. Nee echt ik begin zo langzamerhand verslaafd te raken aan deze koude dorstlesser! Daarom wilde ik de blauwe gradiënt afwisselen met een ander design die de suggestie van cocktails/ice-tea op mijn nagels creeert. Ik ben uiteindelijk voor deze citroentjes gegaan en deze vallen nog meer op door ze voor een fel roze achtergrond te maken. Met mijn stripers heb ik vervolgens de laatste witte details toegevoegd om deze zomerse manicure compleet te maken!

As you can see in this blogpost I’ve also created a manicure for this challenge! This month’s challenge was to create a Beach & Vacation nail art and I decided to create a blue gradient that would create the suggestion of the see on my nails. I added some details with my white striper to make this nail art stand out even more. For my other nails I thought of all the different things that I like to do when I’m on vacation. Drinking a ton of Ice-tea is definitely on of those things! I’m beginning to be just as addicted on this little drink as on painting my nails and for this manicure I decided that I wanted to create something which would look like fruits or cocktails on your nails. So I made some citroenen with my stripers and a dottingtool and by placing this design for a bright pink background the details itself can stand out even more!

Behalve mijn nail art zijn ook mijn mede blogcollega's druk bezig geweest met het maken van een beach manicure. Hun inzendingen kunnen jullie hierboven zien. Iedere deelnemende blog heeft vandaag deze COTM online gezet en zoals aan de foto's al te zien is vind ik alle nail arts super mooi geworden! Maar wat vind jij? Except for my version of the beach manicure, my dear nail art collegues have also created some beautiful summer related manicures that you can see in the pictures above.
