Hallo lieve lezers, het heeft een tijdje geduurd maar de komende twee posts zal ik weer volledig aan swatches besteden. De afgelopen maanden heb ik eigenlijk nauwelijks swatches van nagellak laten zien omdat ik het te druk had met reviews van nail art producten of het maken van eigen manicures. Dat neemt niet weg dat ik het heel leuk vind om lakjes voor jullie te testen, en dat is dan ook precies wat ik vandaag ga doen. Afgelopen week vond ik in de nagellak collectie van mijn zusje 4 mooie lakken van Miss Sporty die tot vandaag nog nooit het daglicht hadden gezien. haha daar ga ik nu verandering in brengen. Hello dear readers, it has taken a while but the next two posts wil be entirely devoted to swatches again. In the recent months, I had hardly time to make some swatches of nail polish because I was too busy with reviews of nail art products or making my own manicures. That does not mean that I really like to test polishes for you, and that is exactly what I will do today. Last week I was looking and through the old collection of nail polish from my sister and I discovered four beautiful paintings from Miss Sporty which until today had never seen daylight. haha well that's is going to change today. Today I will start with the first two shades from the Clubbing collection of Miss Sporty and in the next post I'll share the other two colors with you. Curious? Read on for all the details ...

Het eerste lakje dat ik met jullie deel is deze glanzende donker blauwe kleur met het nummer 314. De lakjes van Miss Sporty hebben geen namen, wat ik wel jammer vind :( Maar deze kleur was wel heel makkelijk op de nagels aan te brengen. Eigenlijk was een laagje al genoeg maar ik bracht nog een dunne tweede laag aan om mijn nagels te egaliseren. Het eindresultaat vind ik mooi. Ik houd van donkerblauwe kleuren, en deze kleur bewijst dat donker in combinatie met glans ook mooi kan zijn.

The first polish that I am going to share with you is this shiny dark blue color with the number 314. The polishes from Miss Sporty do not have names, which I think is such a shame :( But the good thing was that this polish was really easy to apply on my nails. Actually just one layer was enough but I still spent a thin second coat to divide the color equally over my nails. The end result, I think looks beautiful. I love dark colors, and this proves that dark colors in combination with gloss can be beautiful as well.

De tweede kleur die ik vandaag met jullie deel is een licht blauw/groene lak met het nummer 330. Wat me gelijk opviel is dat de lichte kleuren van dit merk mijn nagels minder goed bedekken. Ook lijken de lichte kleuren minder snel te drogen. Dat zag ik al toen ik de kleuren uitprobeerde op een strookje papier. Het mooie van deze lakjes is dat ze lekker budget zijn, maar ik had hier wel drie dunne lagen nodig om mijn nagels mooi te bedekken. Ook lijkt de formule van de donkere kleur beter te zijn dan die van de lichte kleur. Mijn voorkeur gaat dus uit naar het eerste lakje, die naar mijn mening perfect zou zijn voor het maken van nail arts ;)

The second color that I'll share with you today is a light blue / green paint with the number 330. What stood out the most for me was that the quality of the shades from Miss Sporty are not the same. The bright colors seem to dry more slowly. Which I saw when I tried out the colors on a little piece of paper. The beauty of these polishes is that they are nice and affortable, but I did need three thin layers to cover my nails nicely. Also, the formula of the dark color seems to be better than the one from the lighter color. My preference therefore goes to the first polish, which would be perfect in my opinion for making nail arts ;)

Hallo allemaal! Ik ben heel enthousiast om vandaag met jullie deze nieuwe post te delen. Jeeej, ik ben terug van mijn vakanties en zit vandaag alle foto's te bekijken. There were some really nice snaps between all the photos that I took and I want to share those in today's article. This summer I have been on holiday for about three weeks. The Netherlands

Het eerste deel van mijn vakantie bracht ik door in Brabant. Ik bleef de eerste twee weken dus gewoon in Nederland maar dat nam niet weg dat ik tijdens deze vakantie wel een echt vakantiegevoel kreeg. Hierboven kunnen jullie een aantal foto's zien. In de weken dat ik in Brabant was, was er in Tilburg de bekende Tilburgse kermis. Dit is een enorme kermis, de grootste van de Benelux volgens mij :) Hoewel ik eigenlijk best wel een angsthaas ben was het toch leuk om foto's van de attracties te maken. Ook ben ik tijdens deze vakantie tot rust gekomen in het bos, vlakbij ons huisje bevond zich namelijk een groot landgoed. En op de laatste foto kunnen jullie zien dat ik een bezoek bracht aan Tilburg, echt een geweldige stad!

The first part of my vacation I spent in Brabant. I spent the first two weeks in this part of the Netherlands but the fact that I stayed in my home country did not make me lose the summer vibe. Above you can see some pictures I made. In the weeks that I was in Brabant, there was this famous fair in Tilburg. This is a huge carnival, the largest in the Benelux to me :) Although I'm actually quite a coward, it was still fun to take some pictures of the attractions. Also, I was able to relax during this vacation, in the woods near our house because there was a large estate over there. And on the last picture you can see that I visited the city Tilburg, really a great place to go to :)

Kortom, de vakantie in Brabant heeft mij dus echt goed gedaan. Ik heb veel gewandeld, gefietst en ben een paar keer naar een museum geweest. Ook kan je in deze provincie prima een dagje uit, want met steden als Eindhoven, Den Bosch en Tilburg hoefde ik me niet te vervelen. Hierboven zien jullie nog een aantal foto's van de natuur en een kermis attractie waar ik wel in durfde :) De foto linksonder is gemaakt op de Flaestoren, een uitkijkpunt in het bos waarbij wij verbleven. Als je bovenop de toren stond kon je heel ver de natuur in kijken.

Overall, the vacation in Brabant has given me that summer feeling I was looking for. I did a lot of hiking, cycling, and have been to a museums as well. You can also visit a lot of cities in this area, because with cities such as Eindhoven, Den Bosch and Tilburg I did not have to get bored. Above you can see a number of pictures of nature and a fair attraction that I have overcame :) The picture below was taken at the Flaestower, a lookout point in the forest where we stayed. If you stood above on the tower could really look for into the Woods.

Paris

Na Brabant ben ik nog zeven dagen naar Parijs geweest met de Thalys. Dit was een super drukke en hektische vakantie, maar al met al heb ik het erg naar mijn zin gehad. Door alle andere toeristen had je wel het gevoel dat je dingen bezocht die al miljoenen mensen voor je ook bezocht hebben maar ach, dat maakt het ook wel weer leuk. Van die Cliche foto's nemen onder de Eiffeltoren, en monumenten bezoeken die iedereen al honderd keer gezien heeft. Maar we bezochten ook minder bekende attracties. Zo gingen we naar het park La Villete, waar zich een groot Science centrum en een Omniversum achtige bioscoop bevind. We gingen ook naar La Defense waar je in de zomer heerlijk kunt genieten van een hapje en een drankje en waar overal kunstwerken te vinden zijn. Verder bezochten we het Louvre, de Notre Dame, en liepen we door Montmartre. Een drukke en leuke vakantie!

After Brabant I also went seven days to Paris with the Thalys train. This was a super busy and hectic holiday, but all in all I had a great time there. Because of all the other tourists I did have the feeling that the things I was visiting had already been taken a look at by so many people but oh well, that makes it also fun. Taking those pictures under the Eiffel Tower, and visit the monuments that have been visited by anyone for at least a million times. :) But we also visited less known attractions. For example we went to the park La Vilette, where a large science center and a 180 degree cinema are located. We also went to La Defense where you can enjoy a snack and a drink and here you can also find a lot of interesting artworks during the summer. But we have also visited the Louvre, Notre Dame, and we walked through Montmartre. A busy and fun vacation!

Hierboven kunnen jullie het eerste product zien dat ik deze keer van BPS ontving. Er waren zoveel verschillende water decals om uit te kiezen! Ik wist dus niet gelijk wel design ik wilde maken. Toen zag ik de grote en kleine cirkels en besloot ik daarvoor te gaan. Het fijne aan decals van BPS is dat het folie waar ze opzitten doorzichtig is, zodat je niet ziet dat je stickers op je nagels hebt. De stickers zelf brengen erg gemakkelijk aan en hebben zelfs geen topcoat meer nodig. Ik ben erg blij met het resultaat van deze manicure! Ik besloot voor een witte achtergrond te gaan zodat de zwarte stickers nog meer zouden opvallen. Met dit soort producten wordt het voor iedereen mogelijk om in een paar simpele stappen een mooie manicure te maken.

Applying the stickers themselves is really easy, you won't even need a topcoat. I am very pleased with the outcome of this manicure! I decided to go for a white background so that the black stickers would still be more noticeable. With this type of product it is possible for everyone to create a beautiful manicure in just a few simple steps.

Hier zien jullie het tweede product dat ik ontvangen heb. Het is een vel met allerlei soorten onder water nagel decals. Ook weer super schattig en ik was benieuwd naar het eindresultaat. En dat viel niet tegen. Ook hier denk ik dat iedereen wel in staat moet zijn om deze decals mooi op je nagels te krijgen. Ik begon met een witte basis en wilde zo veel mogelijk figuren uitproberen. Daardoor verloor ik het design een beetje uit het oog maar ach, who cares :) Het eindresultaat vind ik wel grappig, misschien wat te druk maar als je er vanaf een afstandje naar kijkt super schattig met al die onderwaterdieren. Ik ben weer heel benieuwd welk van deze twee nieuwe nail arts jullie het mooiste vinden.

And it was not disappointing. Again, I think everyone should be able to get this beautiful decals on their nails. I started with a white base and wanted to try as much different decals as possible. Therefore I lost the design a bit out of sight but oh well, who cares :) The end result however I think is funny, maybe a bit too busy but if you look from a distance, it looks super cute with all those underwater creatures. I have become quite curious which of these two new nail arts you like the best.

Hierboven kunnen jullie de klassieke French manicure zien. Het bevat een basis van een hele lichte bijna transparante roze nagellak in combinatie met de welbekende witte nageltoppen. In het vorige artikel deelde ik met jullie hoe je de klassieke French manicure zelf kunt maken door slechts drie simpele stappen te volgen. Maar vandaag wil ik mijn eigen twist aan deze manicure geven. De laatste tijd gebruikten veel bloggers de French manicure als basis voor nail arts en dat is ook wat ik vandaag ga doen. Het is een goede manier om een nail art te beginnen en ik denk dat iedereen deze manicure na kan maken.

In last article I shared with you how you can create this easy and chic manicure yourself following some easy steps. Today I want to give my own twist to this manicure. The last years a lot of people have used the French manicure as a base to build their manicure on and that is also what I am going to do today! It's a great way to start a manicure and I think that everyone is able to create it.

Stap 1: na het lakken van de witte vingertoppen op je nagels met een dunne striper of gewoon met het kwastje van je nagellak is het tijd voor de volgende stap. Deze stap is eigenlijk heel makkelijk. Maak een horizontale witte lijn boven de 'French tip', zonder dat je de ruimte tussen de twee lijnen invult. Op die manier kun je nog steeds delen van je natuurlijke nagels zien. Laat dit drogen voordat je naar de volgende stap gaat.

You can see which parts of my nails are still visible, (in order to create the cut-out effect) Let your nails dry before moving on to the last step.

Stap3: de laatste stap is eigenlijk ook heel simpel. Voeg een verticale lijn toe aan het midden van je nagels, en gebruik daarvoor weer de witte kleur. Ik heb de rest van mijn nagels hier ook omlijnt. Ik ben erg blij met het uiteindelijke resultaat van deze nail art. In deze post kun je zien dat je soms maar een paar simpele stappen verwijdert bent van een mooie nieuwe manicure. Ik ben zo benieuwd wat jullie van deze creatie vinden. In the late 1970's the brand Orly created an at-home manicure kit for everyone who loved clean and beautiful nails. Jeff Pink the founder of this brand called this manicure kit the 'French manicure'. He gave the manicure a name and made it famous all over the U.S.A. He came with the concept of the idea of the natural nail in combination with the white tip during a trip to Los Angelas, back when he was working there as a make-up artist. So Orly is believed to be the first brand using this term. But how French is the French manicure really? It's kind of hard to discover where this manicure first came from but we know in general that painting your nails excists for thousands of years already. The word manicure comes from two words: 'manus' and 'Cura'. Those words mean 'hand' and 'care'.

There are meany speculations about the French manicure. Some think that the word French was just added to make the name of this nail art design sound more chic and stylish. But others think that it was created in Paris, around the 1930's. When the French manicure became popular in America in the 1970's the nail art was loved because of the clean and stylish look, and it was very useful for the old hollywood stars who didn't want to spent a lot of time on their manicure, but did wanted to have nice looking nails. Jeff Pink, the founder of Orly, came up with the idea of this manicure while he was in Los Angeles. Later, he took this idea and used it on the Paris catwalk, where it was used on the models and in that way it became a famous manicure. In honour of his friends in Europa, he made up the name 'French manicure', but the idea behind this nail art was already created in Los Angeles, a couple of years earlier. So many believe that this term was indeed made up in the 70s in the U.S.A for woman who wanted a quick and chic manicure. Today the French manicure is still very popular as well. It is requested in a lot of salons, and looks great with any outfit. It really doensn't matter which salon you go to, they will always have the classic 'french' manicure.

But enough about the history of this classic manicure. Now I'd love to explain to you how to create it yourself at home using three easy steps. Above you can see the classic French manicure that I created for this article. First I have applied a very light pink almost transparent topcoat to my nails. When this had dried I have applied the classic white tips using a white nail polish and a striper. You can also use the brush of the white polish when you don't have any stripers at home. Finish your manicure by applying one more layer of the sheer pink polish to blend in the white polish and give your nails that Salon Effect! Thanks for taking the time to read this article!
